Linda's Story
Linda Doan’s life has come full circle.
Linda was born in South Vietnam to loving parents, the middle child of three children. Barely escaping South Vietnam in the midst of a communist regime in Saigon, her family set down their roots in Florida in 1980. Holding law degrees from Vietnam, her parents made the decision to begin their life anew. They completed the engineering program at the University of Florida. Interestingly enough, sometimes life steers us away from what we plan and onto a different path.
While transitioning to American life, Linda's parents supported themselves by working various restaurant jobs in Gainseville. Then they recognized a good opportunity and her family opened a restaurant. This decision ultimately altered the course of Linda's life.
Linda grew up in the restaurant business where hard work, dedication, and customer satisfaction were the biggest goals. Success was the way of life in her family. With this outlook, Linda's family opened multiple successful restaurants in Gainseville, FL and Clearwater, FL. After receiving her Bachelors Degree at the University of Florida and her Masters Degree in Psychology at Columbia, Linda returned to her business roots.
Linda found much inspiration in her visits to Asia, New York, and California, and began to develop the idea for WhiteBerry™, Inc. Asian cuisine is based on fresh and healthy ingredients and Asian desserts are no exception. Asian style, tart frozen yogurt has become a rapidly growing trend in the big US cities like Los Angeles and New York. Linda wanted this cosmopolitan and healthy treat to be part of smaller places, like Sarasota - where culture and the arts are intertwined. With Linda’s experience in the food and restaurant industry, she knew she could offer an experience that would keep her patrons coming back for more.
Linda could best be described as a “passionate entrepreneur”. Not only has Linda devoted her passion to the development of Whiteberry, where people can meet for a healthy and delicious treat, she is the CFO for one of the most successful dental practices in Sarasota and is managing director for several commercial real estate properties. Even with her busy schedule, she is a dedicated wife to her devoted husband, Tom and the mother of two delightful children, Mischa and Esme. She stays grounded with her family and her close network of friends.
Her goal is for WhiteBerry™ to be a central gathering place where people can relax with family and friends in an upbeat atmosphere while enjoying the yummiest fat-free frozen yogurt and the freshest toppings, smoothies, and iced coffee.
